What this test covers

  • Know the axle-weight and gross-weight limits that apply to heavy single-unit trucks.
  • Load securement under NSC Standard 10: the minimum number of tie-downs scales with cargo length and weight.
  • Most heavy single-unit trucks have air brakes, so plan to add the air-brake endorsement.
  • A high or heavy load raises the centre of gravity; slow down for curves, ramps, and roundabouts.
  • Complete a daily trip inspection (brakes, tires, lights, steering, securement) and report defects before driving.
  • A Class 3 or D licence only lets you tow within set limits; a heavy trailer needs the Class 1 or A combination.

This practice test draws on the official commercial driver's manual. The real Ontario commercial knowledge test requires an 80% score to pass.
