About the Newfoundland and Labrador Hours of Service & Regulations test

This section covers the commercial-specific rules that do not apply to ordinary drivers, starting with the federal Hours-of-Service regime (SOR/2005-313). South of latitude 60, you may drive up to 13 hours and be on duty up to 14 hours, all within a 16-hour window per shift, and you work inside a 70-hour/7-day or 120-hour/14-day cycle before a 36-hour reset is required.

Beyond hours, expect questions on logbooks and the mandatory electronic logging devices (ELDs) for federally-regulated carriers, weigh stations and weight limits, the daily trip inspection and carrier responsibilities, the zero blood-alcohol standard for commercial drivers, and sharing the road safely with cyclists and pedestrians.
