About the Alberta Safe Driving & Conditions test

This section is about how a heavy vehicle actually behaves once you are moving: on the highway, on grades and curves, in traffic, and in the weather Canada is known for. Expect questions on safe following and stopping distance, merging and lane discipline, and managing speed downhill and through curves where posted advisory speeds were set for cars, not loaded trucks.

A large vehicle carries far more momentum than a car, so recovery from a mistake is harder and slower. The test stresses adjusting early, before rain, fog, snow, ice, or darkness reduce your traction and visibility, rather than reacting once you are already in trouble.
