About the British Columbia Hours of Service & Regulations test

In British Columbia, ICBC sets this test, written by every British Columbia commercial applicant whatever class they are working toward. The questions below come from the commercial driver's manual that applies in British Columbia.

This section covers the commercial-specific rules that do not apply to ordinary drivers, starting with the federal hours-of-service rules for carriers that operate across provincial borders. In a day you cannot drive after 13 hours of driving or 14 hours on duty, you cannot drive once 16 hours have passed since your last 8 consecutive hours off duty, and you work inside a 70-hour/7-day cycle (reset by 36 consecutive hours off) or a 120-hour/14-day cycle (reset by 72 hours off).

Beyond hours, expect questions on logbooks and the electronic logging devices (ELDs) carriers must use unless an exemption applies, weigh stations and weight limits, the daily trip inspection and carrier responsibilities, the alcohol rules for commercial drivers in your province, and sharing the road safely with cyclists and pedestrians.
