About the British Columbia Straight Truck test

The straight-truck class, Class 3 in most provinces and Class D in Ontario, covers heavy single-unit trucks with three or more axles that are not pulling a separate trailer, such as dump trucks and large delivery trucks. The whole vehicle sits on one rigid frame, so the test leaves out the combination-vehicle content of the tractor-trailer class.

Instead it focuses on heavy-vehicle handling, axle and gross-weight limits, load securement under National Safety Code Standard 10, the daily inspection, and the federal Hours-of-Service rules. If the truck is equipped with air brakes, you need the air-brake endorsement as a separate result.
