Do I need a road test to exchange a foreign licence in Canada?

It depends on two things together: your province and who issued your licence. From an agreement jurisdiction most provinces waive the road test. From a country without an agreement, most require the full test process, though Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan credit your experience toward the waiting time.

Which province recognises the most foreign licences?

Of the provinces we cover, Alberta's list is the longest at 41 named international jurisdictions, followed closely by Saskatchewan at 42 entries including the United States. Yukon recognises only five places in total.

Is a UK licence recognised everywhere in Canada?

No. It exchanges in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick, but Yukon does not recognise it at all, and New Brunswick lists England, Scotland and Wales separately, leaving Northern Ireland out.

Does driving experience from my home country count?

In some provinces. Ontario credits up to 12 months toward the pre-G2 wait, Alberta's GDL Exemption Program credits the learner wait, and Saskatchewan can waive its learning period. That credit shortens the wait, never the road test itself.
